Fridge Raid alternatives

Fridge Raid is a free prompt. Paste what's in your fridge and cupboards, how long you have and who's eating. Get one dinner you can make tonight, using up what goes off first, with no extra shopping.

It is not always the right tool. Here is when something else wins, and when it does not.

  1. Dedicated tool

SuperCook or a meal-planning app like Mealime

    Pick it if
You want a big recipe database with photos, saved pantry lists, or a weekly plan with a shopping list.
    Pick Fridge Raid if
You want one decision for tonight that uses up the food going off first, fits your time and your picky eater, without setting anything up.
  2. Plain chatbot

Asking ChatGPT "what can I make with eggs and spinach"

    Pick it if
You have two or three ingredients and just want ideas.
    Pick Fridge Raid if
You want one pick instead of ten ideas, built around what goes off first, your time, your pans and who's eating, with what's left for tomorrow.
  3. By hand

    Searching recipe sites by ingredient

    Pick it if
You want to browse, compare photos and ratings, and you have time.
    Pick Fridge Raid if
It's late, you're tired, and every recipe you find needs one thing you don't have.

Where it falls short

It doesn't know what's actually in your fridge or how fresh it is, it only uses your list. It can't judge if food is still safe to eat, so when in doubt, check it or throw it out. For serious allergies, read the labels yourself, it won't catch hidden ingredients.
