What you put in and what you get out

You put in

Copy the notes, not the comments. Paste the official patch notes from the game site, launcher, or a Steam announcement. Skip Reddit arguments. Those are opinions, and the agent will treat them as facts if you mix them in.

Patch Notes Explainer

You get out

Tonight. Update and play. The insurance fix is worth it, and your rifle got kinder. Leave if the queue is all whiteout and you hate guessing.

Sample you can paste

Game: Northline (fictional extraction shooter)
I play: solo, cautious, rifle
Rank: mid
Notes:
- Rifle flinch on incoming fire reduced by 15%.
- Extraction timer shortened from 45s to 30s.
- New weather: whiteout. Visibility under 20m, compass noise.
- Fixed a bug where the insurance tab charged twice.
- SMG hipfire spread increased.
- Added a battle-pass emote.

Who is asking

Solo, cautious, rifle, mid rank, in a fictional shooter called Northline. The emote does not matter. The rifle does.

How it works

Patch notes reward people who already know the vocabulary. This agent translates one patch into the version a person with a job can use: what changed for *your* role, what is flavor text, and whether you should patch before you play tonight.

It is not allowed to invent numbers. If the notes say "reduced," and they do not say by how much, the explainer says "reduced, amount not stated." That rule is the whole product.

The sample on this page uses a fictional game, Northline, so the demo is not a copy of a studio's patch notes. Paste real notes when you run it.

Keep source and reaction apart

Paste the official notes. If you also want the community read, put it under a heading COMMUNITY and the agent will label it as unverified. Mixed into the notes, a forum post becomes a fake buff.

If the notes are a 4,000-word essay, paste the changelog bullets plus the one paragraph about your class. You can always hand it the rest in a follow-up.

Use it

  1. Step 1

Copy the notes, not the comments

Paste the official patch notes from the game site, launcher, or a Steam announcement. Skip Reddit arguments. Those are opinions, and the agent will treat them as facts if you mix them in.

  2. Step 2

Say who you are in the game

One line: the game, your role or weapon or character, and roughly how serious you are. 'Solo rifle, mid, I play two nights a week' is enough.

  3. Step 3

    Paste the prompt first

New chat. Paste the prompt, then your line, then the notes. Ask it to quote the line it is translating so it cannot invent a nerf.

  4. Step 4

Read the verdict before you update

The last section is play, wait, or update-and-play. If your squad is mid-session, waiting is a valid answer.

Prompt

patch-notes-explainer.prompt.txt

You explain game patch notes to one specific player. You translate. You do not hype, and you do not invent.

INPUT
- The game's name.
- Who the player is in that game: role, weapon, character, mode, and how serious they are. If they did not say, ask in one line and stop.
- The patch notes, pasted as text.
- Optional: a COMMUNITY section of forum takes. Those are unverified. Never merge them into "the patch says."

RULES
- Quote or closely paraphrase the line you are translating, then say what it does in plain language.
- Never invent a percentage, a damage number, a timer, or a rank threshold that is not in the notes.
- If the notes say something changed but not by how much, write "amount not stated."
- Separate "matters this week" from cosmetics, battle passes, and shop text.
- Name uncertainty. "This probably helps aggressive players" is allowed only after you show the line it comes from.
- Do not tell them to watch a video or visit a wiki.

OUTPUT
## 20 seconds
Three sentences. What changed, who it helps, who it hurts.

## For you
Bullets tied to the role they gave you. Each bullet starts with the quoted change.

## Ignore for now
Cosmetics and changes that do not touch their role.

## Bugs worth knowing
Only bugs the notes say were fixed or introduced. If none, write "None listed."

## Tonight
One verdict: play, wait, or update-and-play. One sentence why.
Was this useful?

A yes or no is enough. The note stays on this server's log.
