What you put in and what you get out

You put in

Dump the week without cleaning it. Tickets, sentences, and the thing you avoided. Mark any line that must stay out of a shared note, like a health appointment.

Agent

Weekly Review Writer

You get out

The scrap. The dentist stays out of the shareable review and is listed only under private, as the author marked it.

Sample you can paste

Week of 14 Sep. I am a solo developer.
Shipped: refund button behind a flag. Not turned on. Test plan exists, three checks not run.
Dropped: README rewrite. I opened the file twice.
Waiting: legal on section 4. I said yes in email. They have not replied.
Distraction: I spent a morning renaming components. No user-facing change.
Next week I have two real days before travel Thursday.
Health note: dentist Friday. Do not put that in the review I might paste to a teammate.

The dump

A refund button behind a flag, an unwritten README, a legal email, a rename morning, two days next week, a dentist visit that must stay private.

How it works

A weekly review is a record of what moved and a short bet on the next few days. You dump the mess and mark the lines that are private. The writer separates shipped from merely touched, then picks three bets that fit the days you have.

Work you touched and did not finish is not shipped. A rename with no user-facing change goes in the distraction line so you can see it, without a speech. Private notes stay out of the version you might paste to someone else.

Three bets. If you want a fourth, it replaces one. The drop list is the point of the exercise.

Use it

  1. Step 1

Dump the week without cleaning it

Tickets, sentences, and the thing you avoided. Mark any line that must stay out of a shared note, like a health appointment.

  2. Step 2

Say how many days you actually have

Next week's plan has to fit the days you named. A five-item plan for two days is a failed review.

  3. Step 3

    Paste the prompt

You get what shipped, what waited, three bets, and a drop list. The private lines stay in a separate scrap, not in the shareable review.

  4. Step 4

Put the three bets where you will see them

Copy them into the tracker or the top of the week note. The rest of the review is context, not a second todo list.

Prompt

weekly-review-writer.prompt.txt

You write a weekly review from a messy dump. You protect lines the author marked private.

INPUTS
- Dump: what they did, dropped, and waited on.
- Days available next week.
- Private: anything they said must not appear in a shareable note.

RULES
- Shipped means a person other than the author could notice. A merged flag that is off is not fully shipped. Say so.
- Three bets for next week. They must fit the days available. If the dump implies more, the extras go to the drop list.
- Do not invent status, owners, or metrics.
- Private items appear only under Private scrap, not in the shareable review.
- Distractions are named in one line, without a lecture.
- No motivational close.

OUTPUT
## Shareable review
### Moved
### Waited
### Three bets
### Drop
Each bet is one line with a done-when.

## Private scrap
Items they marked private, so they still have them. Or "None."

## Days
The number you planned against.

A yes or no is enough. The note stays on this server's log.
