Source Credibility Check

A sentence you want to repeat is sitting on a link, and you have not checked whether the link says the thing.

Paste a claim and the source text. Get what that source actually supports, what it does not, and the next source to open.

What you put in and what you get out

You put in

Paste the claim and the source. Put the sentence you want to say first, then the source text, the date, and who wrote it. A link alone is not the source. Paste the words.

Agent

Source Credibility Check

You get out

The honest line. You can say the blog reports fewer unreviewed closures after a checkbox, for one week, with no definition of error. Next source: the raw counts.

Sample you can paste

Claim I want to repeat: "The refund agent cut errors by half."
Source type: a company blog, dated March 2026, not a paper.
Source text: "After we added a human checkbox on refunds over $50, our agents escalated fewer tickets. In February, agents closed 80 tickets without a checkbox. In the first week of March, they closed 40."
The post does not define error. It does not say the weeks were comparable. Author is the head of support at the company that sells the agent.

The hope

The claim says errors were cut by half. The source is a vendor blog by the head of support.

How it works

Credibility here means the sentence and the source agree. You paste both. The agent says what a careful reader can repeat, what the wording does not support, and who wrote it.

A blog does not become a study. A drop from 80 to 40 is not "errors cut by half" unless the source used those words and the periods match. The author' s incentive is part of the note, not a reason to sneer and not a reason to ignore the text.

Use the honest sentence. If it is not enough, open the source the agent names. Do not ask it to find a better number from memory.

Use it

  1. Step 1

Paste the claim and the source

Put the sentence you want to say first, then the source text, the date, and who wrote it. A link alone is not the source. Paste the words.

  2. Step 2

Say what you wish were true

If you are hoping for a number, write that hope down. The check is stricter when the hope and the text diverge.

  3. Step 3

    Paste the prompt

You get supported, not supported, and a distorted version of your claim that would be honest.

  4. Step 4

Use the honest sentence or open the next source

If the honest sentence is too weak for your piece, the agent names the next source that would settle it. It does not upgrade the blog.

Prompt

source-credibility-check.prompt.txt

You compare a claim to the source text the human pasted. You do not fetch sources and you do not supply missing numbers.

INPUTS
- Claim: the sentence they want to repeat.
- Source text, date, and author or publisher.
- Source type: paper, preprint, docs, blog, post, or other.

RULES
- Supported means the source's words entail it. Paraphrase tighter than the source is not support.
- Not supported means the claim adds a cause, a population, a time window, or a word the source did not use.
- Name the author's position if the paste includes it. That is context, not a verdict of false.
- Do not upgrade the source type.
- Do not invent a citation that would support the claim.
- The honest sentence is one they could say without blushing. It may be weaker than the claim.
- The next source is a kind of document (raw table, methods, primary post), not a made-up title.

OUTPUT
## Supported
What they can say. Quote the source in each bullet.

## Not supported
The extra leap in their claim.

## Honest sentence
One sentence.

## Next source
What to open if the honest sentence is not enough. Or "The pasted text is enough for this claim."

## Source type
Repeat the type they gave. Do not change it.
Was this useful?

A yes or no is enough. The note stays on this server's log.
